email flood
So much so that I haven't been able to write for this blog or do much of anything else. I've yet to reply to all the email.
I might post some of my replies in the coming week.
One email I received I have permission to share here:
"I read your article and find it brilliant! I'll refer to you in all of my econ classes from now on."
-- Ken Schoolland, professor of economics
and author of The Adventures of Jonathan Gullible
Meanwhile, Gilligan got slashdotted, bringing hundreds of thousands of hits to poor Thurston Howell III.
This morning, I see that Lew Rockwell has included a pointer to the Gilligan article on his top page:
Gilligan's Island vs. Greenspan's WorldMeanwhile, I'm told there are over 500 comments at slashdot. I started reading them, but after a number of insults and someone calling my article "bullshit" I decided to postpone.
B.K. Marcus on the monetary economics of Thurston Howell III.
Two fairly gentle insults I actually love:
- "what has to be the Strangest... Essay... Ever..."
- "Someone has *WAY* too much time on their hands..."
The missus told me I won't have really impacted the geek world until we hear from one of her college friends. We heard from him this afternoon. I've also heard from an old friend and colleague from about a decade ago, so I guess this thing really penetrated.
Still replying to emails ...
